This seminar will outline issues for practitioners so as to make more effective use of international law before Australian courts. It addresses the ambiguous status of customary international law as part of Australian common law in light of recent jurisprudence. It will also provide an overview of essential principles of private international law and relevant Conventions. The session will also cover tips on framing applications, statutory interpretation and international law, procedural matters and other common issues.
