Aims

Stringent laws exist concerning the receipt, holding and disbursement of trust money – is your trust account compliant?

This paper covers the definition of various types of trust money received by a law practice, including examples of each, together with an overview of the records required to be maintained for each type of trust money.

It will offer useful tips to ensure that your trust account gets the tick of approval during an external examination.

Gavin is a Chartered Accountant who has spent part of his career with Deloittes involved in management and receivership, taxation and public company audit.

He was also the Group Internal Audit Manager with a diversified multi-national industrial company.

He has been an investigator with the Law Society for fifteen years.

He presents papers on trust accounts for Young Lawyers and regional law societies in NSW and is a regular presenter for FMRC on the trust accounts module of their Unrestricted Practising Certificate course.
