  • This seminar will explore the theme of international law and cultural heritage and
    specifically, how certain aspects of “cultural heritage” (as defined under
    international instruments) have been incorporated into Australian domestic law.
    The focus will be on two key areas:
  • International law and movable cultural heritage, with a consideration of the
    Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export
    and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property and the Protection of Movable
    Cultural Heritage Act 1986 (Cth); and
  • International heritage law within the framework of Australian environmental law.
