Negotiating Deeds of Release in Employment Matters

This CLE will cover various issues in relation to settling litigation with an employment law focus, Victoria Brigden will focus on:

• The effectiveness of release clauses and circumstances a deed can be overturned;
• Taxation treatment of termination payments;
• The scope/effectiveness.

Restraints of Trade

Arthur Moses will focus on the legislation and recent case law regarding restraints of trade in employment contracts.
We will consider the factors the courts have taken into account in determining the validity of restraints in an employment contract that operate during and post the termination of the employment contract.
