This seminar will cover areas including billing practice, communicating with clients and addressing client expectations, cost estimates and problems in file transfers.

About the presenters:

John Fleming was admitted as a solicitor in 2000. Prior to joining the law society he worked as a lawyer predominately in the areas of commercial litigation and taxation. John currently works in the Legal Costs Unit of the Law Society of New South Wales where he provides advice to practitioners in NSW and elsewhere on costs and deals with policy issues and presents papers at seminars.

Phyllis Peterson has practised as a solicitor in private practice and as a corporate legal practitioner since 1997. She has extensive experience as a litigation and dispute resolution practitioner. Phyllis joined the Law Society of NSW as a Costs Solicitor in 2015 and currently assists the profession with guidance on legal costs issues. Since the commencement of the new costs regime under the Legal Profession Uniform Law in July 2015, Phyllis has regularly delivered costs presentations to a wide range of practitioners and law practices in Sydney and regional NSW.
